Patricia Susan “PattiSue” Plumer (born on 27th April 1962) is an American former long-distance and middle-distance athlete. She was a two-time Olympian who placed 13th in the final of the 3000-m race that year in Seoul after which she went to place 10th in the 1500-m final, and fifth in the 300.0-m race in the year 1992, in Barcelona. She took home the 3000-meter award in the 90 Goodwill Games. Her 5000-m record was 15:00.00 in 1989 was an earlier American record.
On the 3rd of July 1989 Plumer beat the American record in the 5000m race with 14:59.99 in the DN Galan in Stockholm, Sweden, the first woman to beat Mary Decker’s sweeps of all distance-running American records in the 1980s.
The younger sibling of Polly Plumer, who remained in California set the nation’s record for the high school mile in 4:35.24 in 1982, while competing with University High School (Irvine, California). Plumer was born in Covina, California. She grew up living in Newport Beach, California, she and her father moved into Ridgway, Colorado, during the junior high school years.
