Mark Robert Halper is one of the most popular and richest Photographer who was born on September 16, 1965 in San Francisco, California, United States. The Bed Project (2005-2006): The Bed Project (2005-2006) The subjects were dressed in the same way they would normally dress for bed , and brought their personal bedding to the studio which allowed Halper to create “a playfulness out of people they wouldn’t normally show in front of a camera.”
Halper says, “The key to my work is simplicity. I take out everything that isn’t absolutely necessary, until the only elements that remain are those that are entirely essential. The best photographs are usually the simplest.”
In his first book, Low Overhead (2004), Halper photographed models in an uninspiring studio with a small headroom. He explained to Halper, “I wanted to see how people reacted in a space where they didn’t have any real experience in how to comport themselves.” The resultant images of lightheartedness were featured from August through October of 2005 on the Arclight Cinemas Gallery in Hollywood and was published in a mini-book. It was later made available to the public as the Apple Dashboard widget.
The first clients were The Los Angeles Daily Journal, which was a legal newspaper community, for which Halper continued to work throughout the initial seven years of the professional career. In the process of moving to a bigger Studio in 1995 Halper was able to travel across the United States on assignments for trade publications throughout the 1990s. Halper gained a lot of attention due to his online presence that dates all the way back to 1996 when he first discovered the internet. Following the tech crash of 2000, and the decrease in trade magazine publications the majority of his clients switched to advertisers and corporate clients. In 2002, the business expanded and a new studio was built on the same site that was the Silver Lake home was opened. In the following years he began to specialize in still and architectural photography, along with his established skills in selling portraiture.
In September 2007 Halper was married to Jennifer Hunt, a visual effects compositor and lighter for feature films at Sony Imageworks.
