The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Heather Gay is facing legal troubles on multiple fronts, as her med spa, Beauty Lab + Laser, has been hit with a federal lawsuit alleging copyright infringement. The lawsuit, filed by photographer Gavin O’Neill, claims that Gay and her company used his photographs in their advertisements without permission or payment. O’Neill, whose work has been featured in publications like Vogue and GQ, is seeking over $450k in damages from Gay and her company.
According to court documents, O’Neill alleges that his images were used to showcase the potential results of Beauty Lab’s services, and that the defendants “used, displayed, published, and otherwise held out to the public O’Neill’s original and unique photographs in order to acquire a direct financial benefit from the use of the photographs through revenue from the sales of Beauty Lab’s products and services.”
In response to the lawsuit, Gay and her company have denied all allegations of wrongdoing, with their legal team arguing that any infringement was not willful and that the allegedly infringing photographs were removed immediately upon receiving notice. The case remains unresolved at this time.
In addition to the federal lawsuit, Gay and her med spa are facing another legal battle with her Real Housewives co-star, Monica Garcia. Garcia has filed a lawsuit against Beauty Lab + Laser, claiming that she received “botched” nose and lip injections that did not produce the intended results. In return, Gay’s company has sued Garcia over money owed for services rendered, alleging significant losses and damages as a result of Garcia’s breach of contract. With both legal battles ongoing, the future remains uncertain for the reality TV star and her business endeavors.
