Oz-Salzberger was born 1960 at Kibbutz Hulda, the eldest daughter of the writer Amos Oz and his wife Nily. Oz-Salzberger is the great-great-niece of writer and historian Joseph Klausner. Oz-Salzberger was educated at the kibbutz school system and was an officer with the Israel Defense Forces. She earned her BA in philosophy and history (magna cum laude) and MA in contemporary the history of Israel (summa cum laude) at Tel Aviv University. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the Scottish and German Enlightenments (1991) was completed by Oxford University. University of Oxford, supervised by Dr. John Robertson and mentored by philosopher Isaiah Berlin. She was an Professor of Lincoln College, Oxford (1988-90) and was an Hornik junior research fellow in Intellectual History at Wolfson College, Oxford (1990-93).
Oz-Salzberger Oz-Salzberger was a Fellow at The Institute for Advanced Study, Berlin (1999-2000). Between 2007 until 2012, she was the Leon Liberman Chair in Modern Israel Studies at Monash University’s Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation. In 2009-2010, she held the position of Laurance S. Rockefeller Professor of Visiting and distinguished teaching at Princeton University’s University Center for Human Values, Princeton University.
Oz-Salzberger has published essays in the history of ideas and political thought, most recently on translation in the European Enlightenment, on the biblical sources of John Locke, and on intercivilizational conflict. Her opinion articles on politics, culture, and current affairs appeared in Israeli, European and American periodicals, including Newsweek, the International Herald Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, Le Figaro, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and Ha’aretz.
In the University of Haifa, Oz-Salzberger was editor-in-chief of Haifa University Press (1996-99). She is the director (since 2003) of the Posen Research Forum for Jewish European and Israeli Political Thought.

Fania Oz-Salzberger (Hebrew: pnyh SALZBERGER, born 28 October, 1960) is an Israeli historian and writer. She is historian in the University of Haifa School of Law and Center for German and European Studies.
Faculty in the University of Haifa since 1993, Oz-Salzberger was appointed Associate Professor in 2009.
