Cory Murphy is one of the most popular and richest Ice Hockey Player who was born on February 13, 1978 in Kanata, Ontario, Canada. On June 4 of 2010 Murphy went back to Switzerland by signing a 2 year agreement for the ZSC Lions of the NLA. After the end of his contract with the Lions and playing the 2012-13 season with the KHL alongside HC Dynamo Minsk on May 21 in 2013. Murphy signed a two-year contract for the Swedish club Vaxjo Lakers from the then-named Elitserien.

On May 21, 2018, Murphy announced his retirement from playing professional hockey upon accepting an assistant coaching role with Rögle BK of the SHL for the 2018–19 season.

The 2008-09 season was when Cory played in seven matches for the Panthers and was suffering from an injury to his shoulder that recurred. Murphy had to be sent back to an affiliate to The Rochester Americans, for a two-week rehabilitation program before being called back by the Panthers on January 15th the 15th of January, 2009. Murphy was then removed from re-entry waivers from Tampa Bay Lightning Tampa Bay Lightning on January 19th 2009. On the 17th of July 2009, he received a contract from the New Jersey Devils to a two-way contract.

On the 27th of March 2007 Murphy signed the two-year National Hockey League contract with Florida Panthers. His first NHL goal was scored on October 6 in 2007 on Kevin Weekes of the New Jersey Devils.

In his 18th and final professional season in 2017–18, Murphy joined Karlskrona HK of the SHL, he contributed with 1 goal and 15 points through 51 games, unable to help Karlskrona avoid relegation.
